Part A
What are uses of analogue oscilloscope?
Answer
An analogue oscilloscope is primarily used to visualize and analyze time-varying electrical signals in real-time. Key applications include measuring signal voltage and frequency, observing waveform characteristics such as phase shifts and distortion, and troubleshooting electronic circuits by identifying signal integrity issues or noise. It is particularly valued for its ability to display fast, continuous signal changes without the aliasing effects or sampling latency associated with digital systems.
What is data – logging process? Mention the importance of data logger system.
Answer
The data-logging process is the systematic collection of physical measurements or electrical signals over a period of time using a dedicated electronic device known as a data logger. This process involves sensing physical parameters (such as temperature, pressure, or voltage), converting them into digital signals, and storing them in internal memory or on external storage media for subsequent analysis or retrieval.
The importance of a data logger system includes:
- Unattended Monitoring: It enables continuous, autonomous data collection in remote or hazardous environments without requiring human intervention.
- Accuracy and Consistency: It eliminates human error associated with manual recording and provides high-resolution, time-stamped data points for precise analysis.
- Trend Analysis: By storing long-term data, it allows engineers to identify patterns, detect anomalies, and perform predictive maintenance on industrial processes.
