Give a note on social engineering and cyber stalking.
Answer
Social Engineering is a manipulation technique that exploits human psychology to trick individuals into divulging confidential information, such as passwords or bank details, or performing actions that compromise security. It relies on deception rather than technical hacking.
Cyber Stalking involves the use of the internet or other electronic means to harass, threaten, or intimidate an individual. It includes persistent unwanted contact, monitoring online activities, spreading malicious rumors, or threatening physical harm, often causing significant psychological distress to the victim.
What are the security challenges posed by mobile devices?
Answer
Mobile devices present unique security challenges due to their portability and constant connectivity:
- Data Loss/Theft: Physical loss of the device exposes sensitive data stored locally.
- Insecure Networks: Reliance on public Wi-Fi makes devices vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks.
- Malicious Apps: Downloading apps from untrusted sources can lead to malware infection and unauthorized data access.
- Lack of Updates: Delayed security patches leave devices susceptible to known exploits.
