JNTU B.Pharmacy II PHYSICAL PHARMACEUTICS-I Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2018 - R17)
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Define dielectric constant and dipole moment.
Answer
The dielectric constant is a measure of a substance's ability to store electrical energy in an electric field, defined as the ratio of the permittivity of the substance to the permittivity of free space. The dipole moment is the product of the magnitude of the separated charges and the distance between them, representing the polarity of a molecule.
Differentiate liquid crystals, glassy states and solid crystalline.
Answer
Liquid crystals possess properties intermediate between liquids (flow) and solids (ordered molecular arrangement). Glassy states are amorphous solids characterized by a disordered, rigid structure lacking a long-range periodic lattice. Solid crystalline states exhibit a highly ordered, repeating three-dimensional arrangement of atoms or molecules with a defined melting point.
