JNTU B.Pharmacy II PHYSICAL PHARMACEUTICS-II Previous Question Paper (May - 2019 - R17)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Write the units of basic rate constants of zero, first and second orders.
Answer
The units for rate constants (k) are: Zero order: mol L-1 s-1 (or M s-1); First order: s-1; Second order: L mol-1 s-1 (or M-1 s-1).
What is acid base catalysis?
Answer
Acid-base catalysis is a process where the rate of a chemical reaction is increased by the presence of an acid or a base. It involves the transfer of protons to or from the reactant molecules. In specific acid-base catalysis, the rate depends only on the concentration of hydronium or hydroxyl ions, whereas in general acid-base catalysis, all acidic or basic species present in the solution contribute to the reaction rate.
