JNTU B.Tech II FARM MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENTS-I Previous Question Paper (May - 2019 - R13)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
Part A
Write the benefits of Farm Mechanization.
Answer
Farm mechanization increases the efficiency of agricultural operations, leading to timely completion of tasks, reduced drudgery for farmers, and higher crop yields through precise input application.
A plough covers 1.2 m swath width at 3.5 kmph forward speed. Find the theoretical and effective field capacities if plough operates at field efficiency of 60%.
Answer
Given: Width (w) = 1.2 m, Speed (s) = 3.5 km/h, Efficiency (η) = 60% (0.60).
Theoretical Field Capacity (TFC) = (w × s) / 10 = (1.2 × 3.5) / 10 = 0.42 ha/h.
Effective Field Capacity (EFC) = TFC × η = 0.42 × 0.60 = 0.252 ha/h.

A three bottom 40 cm trailed type MB plough costs Rs.10,000/- and a two bottom, 40 cm trailed type MB plough cost Rs. 8,000/-. The operating speed of both ploughs is 5 kmph and expected field performance index is 80%. If the cost per hectare of tractor unit is same, what would be the size of land for which both the plough will be equally economical?
