JNTU B.Tech II STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS I Previous Question Paper (February -2024 - R15)
i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B.
ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, answer all questions.
iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Define perfect frames and briefly explain their significance.
Answer
A perfect frame is a stable structure that satisfies the condition n = 2j - 3, where n is the number of members and j is the number of joints. Its significance lies in its ability to maintain its shape and support loads without internal deformation or collapse, serving as the fundamental basis for structural analysis in trusses.
Distinguish between method of joints and method of sections.
Answer
The method of joints involves analyzing the equilibrium of individual joints by applying force summation equations to determine member forces throughout the entire truss. In contrast, the method of sections involves cutting the truss into two parts and applying equilibrium equations to a portion of the structure to find forces in specific members directly.

Two-wheel loads of 20 kN and 10 kN are placed at a fixed distance of 2 m, apart. The moving concentrated loads cross a simply supported beam AB (Figure. 10) of 11 m span. Draw the influence line for the bending moment and shear force at section ‘C’ 5 m from the support A. Also, determine the maximum bending moment and shear force at that point.
