List out and explain the basic guidelines for value education.
Answer
The basic guidelines for value education are essential criteria to ensure that the content is universally acceptable and practically applicable. These guidelines are:
- Universal: The values must be applicable to all human beings, regardless of caste, creed, nationality, or religion. They should not be restricted by time, space, or individual preference.
- Rational: Value education must be based on reason and logic rather than blind faith or dogma. It should be amenable to questioning and verification.
- Natural and Verifiable: The values should be naturally acceptable to every human being. One should be able to verify these values through one's own experience in living, rather than relying on external authority.
- All-encompassing: The content must cover all dimensions of human existence, including thought, behavior, work, and understanding, and all levels of living, from the individual to the entire planet.
- Leading to Harmony: The ultimate goal of value education is to promote harmony within the individual, in the family, in society, and in nature.
Define self-exploration. What is the content of self-exploration?
Answer
Self-exploration is the process of finding out what is valuable to oneself by investigating one's own being. It is a dialogue between 'what I am' and 'what I really want to be'. It is not a set of instructions but a process of self-investigation and self-evolution.
The content of self-exploration consists of two main parts:
- The Desire (Aspiration): This involves identifying the basic human aspiration. Every human being desires continuous happiness and prosperity. Self-exploration helps in understanding what these terms truly mean and whether our current efforts are aligned with achieving them.
- The Program (Process): This involves understanding the process to fulfill the desire. It includes understanding the human being, the family, society, and nature, and realizing how to live in harmony at all these levels. It focuses on the transition from the current state of living to the state of continuous happiness and prosperity.
What do you mean by your natural acceptance and experiential validation? Explain.
