PART - A
What is detailed estimate.
Answer
A detailed estimate is an accurate and comprehensive calculation of the total cost of a construction project. It is prepared by working out the quantities of various items of work individually, multiplying them by their respective unit rates, and adding provisions for contingencies, work-charged establishment, and contractor profit.
This estimate is typically prepared after the technical sanction of the preliminary estimate and is essential for inviting tenders, arranging contracts, and exercising financial control during the execution of the project.
What is Plinth area method of estimate?
Answer
The Plinth Area Method is a preliminary or approximate method of estimation used to determine the cost of a building project during its initial planning stages. It is based on the plinth area of the building, which is the built-up covered area measured at the floor level of the basement or any story.
The calculation is performed by multiplying the plinth area of the building by the plinth area rate, which is derived from the cost of similar buildings recently constructed in the same locality. This method provides a quick estimate for administrative approval and budget allocation but does not account for detailed specifications or variations in building height and quality.
