JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech II ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS Previous Question Paper (May/June - 2019 - R13)
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.
Part A
Define node, a junction and a branch.
Answer
A node is a point where two or more circuit elements are connected. A junction is a point where three or more circuit elements meet. A branch is a single path containing one or more circuit elements between two nodes.
Summarize the classifications of Circuit elements.
Answer
Circuit elements are classified as follows:
- Active vs Passive: Active elements (e.g., voltage/current sources) supply energy, while passive elements (e.g., resistors, inductors, capacitors) dissipate or store energy.
- Linear vs Non-linear: Linear elements follow Ohm's law, while non-linear elements (e.g., diodes) do not.
- Unilateral vs Bilateral: Bilateral elements (e.g., resistors) conduct equally in both directions, whereas unilateral elements (e.g., transistors) conduct differently based on polarity.
