Answer PaperPaper Code: 113BWMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

What is meant by Super node?

2 marks

Answer

A supernode is formed when a voltage source is connected between two non-reference nodes in a circuit. It is treated as a single enclosed entity, allowing the application of Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL) to the entire supernode boundary while using the constraint equation provided by the voltage source.

b

Draw the characteristics of Independent and Dependent Sources.

3 marks

Answer

An independent voltage source maintains a constant voltage regardless of current, while an independent current source maintains a constant current regardless of voltage. Dependent sources have characteristics where the output (voltage or current) is linearly controlled by another voltage or current elsewhere in the circuit.

c

Define the R.M.S. value.

Two batteries A and B are connected in parallel and a total load of 10 Ω is connected across their terminals. Battery ‘A’ has an e.m.f of 12V and internal resistance of 2Ω and B battery has an e.m.f of 8V and an internal resistance of 1Ω. Using Kirchoff’s laws find the current flowing in each battery and also find potential difference across the external resistance.
