What is meant by closed loop system?
Answer
A closed-loop system, also known as a feedback control system, is a system in which the output signal has a direct effect on the control action. It continuously monitors its own output and compares it with a desired reference input to generate an error signal.
The key features include:
- Feedback mechanism: A sensor measures the output and feeds it back to the controller.
- Error detection: The controller calculates the difference between the set point and the actual output.
- Self-correction: The system automatically adjusts its operation to minimize the error and maintain the desired performance, making it more accurate and stable against external disturbances compared to an open-loop system.
