JNTU B.Pharmacy 1 PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS-I Previous Question Paper (December-2018 / January-2019 - R17)
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.
Part A
Write the various types of pharmaceutical analysis.
Answer
Pharmaceutical analysis is broadly classified into: 1. Classical methods (Volumetric, Gravimetric, and Gasometric analysis) and 2. Instrumental methods (Spectroscopic, Chromatographic, and Electrochemical methods).
How do you prepare 0.1N oxalic acid and 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solutions?
Answer
To prepare 0.1 N oxalic acid: Dissolve 6.3 g of oxalic acid dihydrate in distilled water and dilute to 1000 mL in a volumetric flask. To prepare 0.1 M sodium hydroxide: Dissolve 4.0 g of NaOH pellets in distilled water and dilute to 1000 mL, then standardize against a primary standard like potassium hydrogen phthalate.
