JNTU B.Pharmacy I Year PHARMACEUTICAL INORGANIC CHEMISTRY-I Previous Question Paper (June-2019 - R17)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART- A
Describe the different types of impurities with suitable examples.
Answer
Impurities are classified based on their source. Common types include: Inorganic impurities (e.g., heavy metals like lead or arsenic from reagents), Organic impurities (e.g., residual solvents or starting materials), and Residual solvents (e.g., methanol or ethanol used in processing).
Describe the principle involved in the limit test for Sulphate.
Answer
The limit test for sulphate is based on the reaction of sulphate ions with barium chloride in the presence of dilute hydrochloric acid. This reaction produces barium sulphate, which forms a white turbidity or opalescence in the solution. The intensity of this turbidity is compared against a standard solution to determine if the sulphate content is within permissible limits.
