JNTU B.Tech II PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (April - 2018 - R13)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
What is transient response of circuit?
Answer
The transient response is the temporary behavior of a circuit that occurs between two steady states when there is a sudden change in the circuit conditions, such as switching or a change in input. It represents the natural response of the circuit due to the energy stored in reactive elements like inductors and capacitors.
What are initial conditions? Explain their significance.
Answer
Initial conditions are the values of circuit variables, specifically inductor currents and capacitor voltages, at the instant of switching (t = 0+). Their significance lies in the fact that energy stored in inductors and capacitors cannot change instantaneously; therefore, these values are used to determine the constants of integration when solving the differential equations that describe the circuit's transient behavior.
