B.Tech | II | II-II | R15 | December - 2017

Answer PaperPaper Code: 124DHMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.

PART - A

125 marks
a

Distinguish between natural response and forced response of an electrical circuit.

2 marks

Answer

The natural response is the transient response of a circuit due to stored energy in inductors and capacitors when the external sources are removed or set to zero. The forced response is the steady-state response produced by the applied external independent sources.

b

Find the Laplace transform of {t.sin 5t + 0.2π}

3 marks

Answer

Using the property of Laplace transform for multiplication by t, L{t f(t)} = -d/ds F(s), and the linearity property:

L{t sin 5t} = -d/ds [5 / (s2 + 25)] = 10s / (s2 + 25)2
L{0.2π} = 0.2π / s

The total transform is 10s / (s2 + 25)2 + 0.2π / s.
