Answer
Software process change is the process of improving the way software is developed by modifying the existing process framework. The basic principles include:
- Process assessment: Before making changes, the current state of the process must be evaluated to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Incremental improvement: Changes should be implemented in small, manageable steps rather than as a radical, organization-wide overhaul to minimize disruption and allow for feedback.
- Stakeholder involvement: The people who use the process must be involved in the design and implementation of changes to ensure buy-in and practical applicability.
- Measurement-driven: Improvements must be based on quantitative data. Metrics should be collected before and after changes to verify that the process has actually improved.
- Continuous learning: Process change is a cyclical activity. Lessons learned from one improvement cycle should be fed back into the next to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
