JNTU B.Tech II PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (April - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
PART A
Answer all questions.
What is transient response of circuit?
Answer
The transient response is the temporary behavior of a circuit that occurs between the time a switching action takes place and the time the circuit reaches a new steady-state condition. It represents the circuit's adjustment period when energy stored in inductors or capacitors changes.
What are initial conditions? Explain their significance.
Answer
Initial conditions refer to the values of circuit variables, specifically the voltage across capacitors and current through inductors, at the exact instant of switching (t = 0+). Their significance lies in the fact that energy stored in reactive elements cannot change instantaneously, allowing us to determine the state of the circuit immediately after a disturbance, which is essential for solving differential equations governing the transient response.
