Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
PART - A
Define Reproducibility and Repeatability.
Answer
Repeatability is the ability of a measuring instrument to provide the same reading when the same input is applied repeatedly under identical conditions over a short period. Reproducibility is the ability of an instrument to provide the same reading when the same input is applied under different conditions, such as different operators, different locations, or different times.
A wattmeter having a range of 500 W has an error of ±2% of Full scale deflection. If the true power is 100 W, what would be the range of readings? Suppose the error is specified as percentage of true value, what would be the range of the readings?
Answer
Given: Range = 500 W, Error = ±2% of FSD. Absolute error = 0.02 × 500 = ±10 W. For a true power of 100 W, the range of readings is 100 ± 10 W, which is 90 W to 110 W.
If the error is ±2% of the true value, absolute error = 0.02 × 100 = ±2 W. The range of readings is 100 ± 2 W, which is 98 W to 102 W.
