Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad B.Tech II STRUCTURED DIGITAL SYSTEM DESIGN Previous Question Paper (May - 2019 - R13)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.
PART- A
Realize 5 input AND function assertion LOW with only two input OR gates.
Answer
A 5-input AND function with assertion-LOW inputs is equivalent to a 5-input OR gate with assertion-HIGH inputs. To realize this using only 2-input OR gates, use a tree structure: connect the 5 inputs to a cascade of four 2-input OR gates (two at the first level, one at the second, and one at the third) to produce the final output.
Draw the Mixed logic equivalent of following expression. Assume A, B are from positive logic system and C, D are from negative logic system.
Answer
Given A, B are positive logic (active-HIGH) and C, D are negative logic (active-LOW), the expression f = AB + CD is implemented as follows: A and B are connected to an AND gate. C and D are connected to an OR gate (since they are active-LOW, an OR gate functions as an AND gate for these signals). The outputs of these two gates are then connected to an OR gate to produce f.
